Erica Matula, VMD, DACVECC

Critical Care

​​​​​​​Erica Matula, VMD, DACVECC, is a board-certified specialist in veterinary emergency and critical care. A native New Yorker, Dr. Matula earned her bachelor’s degree from Fordham University and her veterinary degree from the University of Pennsylvania. She then completed a small animal rotating internship in medicine and surgery followed by a three-year emergency and critical care residency at the Animal Medical Center in New York City.

Dr. Matula returned to Philadelphia four years ago and has been thrilled to be part of the Philadelphia Animal Specialty & Emergency (PASE) team ever since. She finds emergency and critical care medicine especially rewarding, combining her passion for managing complex cases with compassionate care for patients and their families. She believes that extra attention and TLC can make a meaningful difference for pets while they are away from home.

​​​​​​​Outside the hospital, Dr. Matula enjoys exploring Philadelphia’s restaurant scene, revisiting favorite local spots, and spending time with her husband, their two cats, Chicken and Gary, and their corgi, Timothy.
