Emergency and Critical Care Technician

Kelina is a Certified Veterinary Technician with a strong passion for emergency and critical care medicine. Originally from Philadelphia’s Northern Liberties neighborhood, she loves being from the city where everything is accessible and within walking distance.

Kelina’s journey into veterinary medicine began at age 20 after her dog was diagnosed with leptospirosis. While learning about the disease, she became interested in client education and advocating for patients. This experience sparked her lifelong commitment to veterinary medicine.

She began her education at Harcum College in 2017 and gained experience at World of Animals before earning her CVT. Following graduation, Kelina joined the Internal Medicine department at the University of Pennsylvania, where she spent two years refining her technical skills. During that time, she discovered her true passion for emergency medicine, drawn to the fast pace, unpredictability, and variety of cases each day brings.
What Kelina values most about veterinary medicine is the personal reward of caring for critically ill and emergent patients while also educating pet owners on their pets’ conditions and how they can best support them. She takes pride in knowing her work makes a meaningful difference during some of the most challenging moments for both patients and families.

Outside of work, Kelina enjoys weightlifting and Pilates at the gym, as well as spending time with her boyfriend and family. She is currently working toward her next professional goal—pursuing her Veterinary Technician Specialty (VTS) in Emergency and Critical Care.
