Dr. Alexis Perez is a Chicago native who received a Bachelor's Degree in Gender and Women's Studies from the University of Illinois at Chicago. She received her DVM from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign College of Veterinary Medicine. During her time at U of I (instead of sleeping), she worked part time in their Wildlife Medical Clinic and Clinical Pathology Laboratory.

Following graduation she completed a one-year small animal rotating internship at the Veterinary Emergency and Referral Group in Brooklyn, New York. Since migrating to Philadelphia, she has worked as an emergency clinician for the past few years. Her clinical interests include ocular emergencies, urinary obstructions, and being able to provide affordable veterinary care to the community.

During Dr. Perez's veterinary career, she has volunteered time with marine mammals in the Cayman Islands, elephants in Thailand, and domestic animals in Nicaragua. When not traveling, she enjoys catering to her two tiny rescue dogs, Ethan and River.
